Vinyl Replacement Windows with transomes.

These are six foot tall windows with transomes in the taller openings. These are called oriole windows when they have a taller top sash than the bottom sash. In this case the top sash is 40 and the bottom is 31 for a 71" total height replacement window. Many window and door manufacturers have a U channel on the tops to allow for out of square applications. These replacement windows are built to within an eighth of an inch from many manufacturers and can be custom made to accomidate the customer.

Some window manufacturers can build 84" tall and 96" tall replacement windows but many do not. The transomes are used in the latter application. Tall windows can be required to be split 50-50 from some manufacturers like Alside Supply and others.

Many can do an oriole type replacement window in a single hung model but not as a double hung. The oriole is done to keep the line of sight clear when sitting at a table or on a sofa. This also keeps the bottom sash of glass under 9 square feet and therefore foregoes the requirement for safety glass.
